It’s obvious that most people who call a place, automatically ASSUME I just answer the phones. Which, I hate to say, is what I do when I call a company. Yet, when the woman goes ‘what can I help you wish’ I go on about my business and give her the infromation I need to find out for.
There have SEVERAL occasions that I have had people on the phone tell me they wanted to speak with a man. Even if I rattle off the answer, they still insist on talking to a man. I use to joke with everyone that I will go and buy a fake penis and throw it on the table when they ask for a man and say, ‘ok, now I have one, may I help you?’ I use to get THAT frustrated about the situation.
Today’s society is so stuck in the old ways and old times, it appears they refuse to accept the fact that women are in a man’s world and they are here to stay.
I do feel it’s intimidating for men to find a woman that know more then they do. And it makes it worse, it’s a woman that know more about a MAN’S subject. I have dealt with this problem all of my life and it’s more of a laughing matter then me getting pissed off ideally.
Next time you walk into a auto parts store, well a speed shop, (the auto zones and advanced stores will hire anyone) don’t cancel out the woman behind the counter, she may be your saving grace.
